FPT HANOI CAMPUS EXTENSION
FPT Campus Phase 3 is conceived as a critical evolution of the approved 1/500 masterplan—an architectural and landscape strategy that transforms two distinct entities, the “Diamond” and the “Comb,” into a unified and future-ready campus. While the original scheme of phase I, designed by Group8Asia, endowed each building with a strong individual identity, their relationship remained fragmented. This project addresses that gap, not by erasing difference, but by fostering dialogue—reframing the campus as a coherent organism rather than a collection of adjacent forms.
The design operates through reinterpretation rather than replacement. By aligning geometry, façade rhythm, and spatial organization, the two buildings are brought into a cohesive system that enhances clarity, circulation, and user experience. Their distinct characters are preserved, yet carefully calibrated to resonate with one another, creating a balanced architectural composition. Transparent and permeable ground planes further dissolve boundaries, connecting interior functions with the surrounding landscape and reinforcing openness across the campus.
Embedded within the original masterplan were references to rice paddies and the rhythm of columnar streets—symbols of growth, order, and community. Rather than adopting these motifs literally, the project abstracts their underlying principles into a contemporary spatial language. Concepts of rhythm, cohesion, and structure are translated into a flexible framework that aligns with FPT’s forward-looking technological identity. Here, cultural continuity is not expressed through replication, but through transformation.
This approach is realized through a courtyard-based strategy organized around the five elements—Fire, Earth, Water, Metal, and Wood. These courtyards introduce a layered system of spaces that balance individuality and unity, offering distinct atmospheres while contributing to an overarching sense of coherence. Together with riverside terraces, sculpture gardens, and outdoor workspaces, they extend the campus experience beyond the buildings, fostering interaction, creativity, and well-being.
At the heart of the project lies the central park, positioned as the primary integrative element. More than a visual centerpiece, it functions as essential infrastructure—structuring movement, moderating microclimate, and anchoring the identity of the campus. Landscape is elevated to a strategic role, acting as the connective tissue that unifies architecture, supports daily life, and enhances environmental performance.
Responding to its context, the massing strategy optimizes river views, improves orientation, and buffers the impact of adjacent infrastructure. Flexible floorplates accommodate evolving workplace demands, ensuring long-term adaptability within a total gross floor area of 80,260 m². FPT Campus Phase 3 ultimately transcends its original configuration. It redefines the relationship between architecture and landscape, individuality and cohesion, culture and innovation. The result is a cohesive “Campus 2.0”—an integrated, human-centered environment that reflects ambition, fosters connection, and embodies the evolving culture of a contemporary technology campus.
